Sample Menus for PTAs

Sample Menus for PTAs

What is a sample menu?

If your PTA or Friends of the School group has been set up with a sample menu, this is a starting point to help you understand how menus are structured in Kindo, while also offering ideas and examples of best practice.

The sample menu:

  • Shows a common PTA-style menu setup

  • Includes example categories and items

  • Helps you see how categories and items work together

It is not intended to be used as-is. You can edit, duplicate, move or replace any part of the sample menu to suit your needs.

Daily order cut-offs

Some sample menu categories already have daily order cut-offs set. These are provided as examples and cannot be changed.

If you need a specific cut-off day and time, you’ll need to create your own category and then duplicate, move or add items to it.

Sample menu categories with cut-offs:

  1. Easter Fundraiser - 9am
  2. Movie night - 9am
  3. Pizza Day - 9am
  4. PTA - Event - 4pm
  5. Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser - 9am

Using the sample menu as a starting point

You can adapt the sample menu to suit your needs in a few different ways, depending on how much you want to change. All menu changes are made in the Menu Management (Partner Site) on the Item Editor page.

You can:

  • Edit the existing sample items

  • Create your own categories and move or duplicate sample items

  • Create your menu from scratch

Choose the option that best fits your setup.

Option 1: Edit the existing sample items

Use this option if the sample menu is close to what you need and does not have a daily order cut-off.

  1. Select the category you want to update.

  2. Click the item you want to change.

  3. Update the item details (for example, the name, image or price).

  4. Save your changes.

  5. Repeat for any other items you want to update.

  6. Once your menu is ready, contact your school administrator to arrange when it should be made live on the Kindo shop.

Find step-by-step instructions for the actions above in Managing item details and Organising your menu here.

Option 2: Create your own categories and reuse sample items

Use this option if you want a different menu layout, or need to set a daily order cut-off.

  1. Create your new menu category. (You can add items to it later.)

  2. When creating a category, select whether it has a daily order cut-off or not.

  3. In the sample menu, open the category that contains the item you want to reuse.

  4. Duplicate the item.

  5. Move the duplicated item into your new category.

  6. Edit the duplicated item as needed.

  7. Repeat until your new categories contain the items you want to offer.

  8. Save your changes.

  9. Once your menu is ready, contact your school administrator to arrange when it should be made live on the Kindo shop.

Find step-by-step instructions for the actions above in Organising your menu here.

Option 3: Create your menu from scratch

Use this option if you want to build your menu from the ground up.

  1. Create your menu categories.

  2. Add new menu items to each category.

  3. Save your changes as you go.

  4. If you don’t need the sample menu, you can leave it unused for reference or delete it.

  5. Once your menu is ready, contact your school administrator to arrange when it should be made live on the Kindo shop.
