Daily order cutoff - what it is & when to use it

Access: Menu Administrator

What is a daily order cutoff?
It is the time orders close for the day, and is set by the Menu Administrator when creating a new category. E.g. lunch suppliers might select a cutoff time of 9am on day 0 of a lunch service.  This means users can place an order anytime up until 9am for lunch that day.

When do I need it?

By selecting daily order cutoff, the following will happen:

  1. The system will create a calendar option for users to select the date of delivery for their item (if multiple date options are set up on the Service Manager). A single date can also be set (e.g. for a one-off fundrasausage sizzle).

  2. The system will not allow orders to be placed after the cutoff day/time chosen.
  3. The system will not allow online bank transfer to be used as a topup/payment option, when there are less than 48 hours until the close of the service. This is because internet banking can take up to two business days for the transfer to be complete and the order to be successfully processed in Kindo.  This ensures no orders are missed due to payments not having been completed.

What happens if I do NOT select a Daily Cutoff when setting up a menu category?
If you do NOT select a daily cutoff, orders can be taken up until 11.59pm on the last day of the service.

  • The School Service Manager sets the window, in this example they have set the Friday 8 December as the last day of the service for Leavers: Yr 13 Social Committee events, Ball and Leavers categories.
  • Users can register for shop items anytime up to 11.59pm on Fri 8 December.
  • Users can cancel their registration anytime up to 11.58pm on the day the place their order.

How to set up a Daily Cutoff
See Creating a new category for more information on setting up a category.

1. Enter the Category Name and ensure the Has daily order cutoff button is selected.

2. Once the daily order cutoff is ticked, enter the day, hour and minute for the cutoff.

Day 0 is the day of delivery, which is the actual lunch day, however you may choose to cutoff orders up to 7 days before delivery. If, for example, you were running a sausage sizzle and needed to know 2 days in advance how many sausages to buy, you would select '2 days earlier' for your cutoff time.

3. Select Save & Publish to save your changes and make live on the shop site.

NOTE: you will also need to ask the School Service Manager to add your category to a service, and Save & Publish before it will be visible on the Shop site for your users.

Once published, a service with a Daily Cutoff will show users the day/s available to choose from when ordering, in the lunch example it would look like this:

  • Orders may be changed or cancelled up until the cutoff time OR until the Order Administrator changes the Order Status from pending to processing or completed.
  • You can NOT change the cutoff time of your Category once it has been set up.
