Kindo's new look: what's changing for schools and families

The New-Look Kindo: What’s Changed for You and Your Families

Kindo has a fresh new look. Your families see a redesigned home screen, a single place for their requests, and easier ways to pay across schools. Your School admin home page has the same refreshed look, though your tools and how they work are unchanged. This article covers what's new for you, what your families see, and how to help if a caregiver has a question.

What's changed for you

  1. Your School admin home page has a cleaner header. If you manage more than one school or a trust, you can switch between them from the switcher at the top right. All your existing pages and setup work exactly as they did.

  1. When you open View Shop, you'll see the caregiver display your families use, with your admin options available in the left-hand menu. See View the caregiver experience.
  1. You can now set a brand colour for your school through the Partner site. On the Service Manager page, the menu on the right includes a School colour option, where you can pick a colour or enter a hex code to carry through to your school's hub. Leaving the hex field empty keeps the default Kindo palette.

Info
Most of the changes are on the caregiver shopping side that families use to view requests, pay, and order.
Alert
The complete new look reaches everyone gradually over about two weeks, so for a short time people may be on different versions, including you, a colleague, or a caregiver. That's expected, and everyone will be on the new look soon.

What's changed for your families

The new look brings a family's payment requests, forms, and lunch orders into one place, across all their Kindo schools. The main things families notice are:

  1. A single home screen for their whole family, so schools, requests, orders, and their Kindo Wallet sit together.
  2. One place for requests, where payment requests and forms from every school come together so nothing gets missed.
  3. A Pay All option, so families with requests from more than one school can pay everything at once, with the option to deselect anything they'd rather not pay right now.
  4. Their order and payment history, now called Transactions.
  5. A page for each of their schools, carrying that school's messages and calendar events.

View the caregiver experience

To experience what your families see, open View Shop from your School admin home page. This opens the live caregiver view for your school, with the shops, requests, and account screens a parent sees. You'll see the browser version, so families on the app may notice small layout differences.

Your admin options stay available while you're there. In the left-hand menu, alongside the caregiver items (Home, Shops, Requests, Transactions, Calendar, Account), you'll see an Admin section with School admin home, Order status, and Connect. Families don't see this Admin section, everything above it is what they see.

IdeaView Shop is the quickest way to check how a message or shop looks to your families before they see it.

If a caregiver asks

Kindo is letting families know about the new look directly, by email, in-app, and on social media. A caregiver might still mention it or ask a question, so here are the answers to have ready.
  1. Can we turn the new look off? No, the new experience can't be switched off for a school or an individual. Every Kindo account moves to it.
  1. Why can some caregivers see the new look and others can't yet?
The new look reaches families gradually, so some see it before others. Everyone will see it soon.

  2. A family says they can't find their payment requests or their school. In the new look, requests from every school sit together under Requests, and each school has its own page reached from the family's home screen. The caregiver overview walks families through where everything now lives: Getting to know the new Kindo.
