Recommended Dos and Don'ts for your Kindo Community Shop
Kindo Community Shop is a great way to engage wider community in supporting your school. Here are some things you need to know for a successful experience.
Current Restrictions on Use
Due to the Gambling Act, no raffle tickets can be sold online.
Alcohol may be sold if you hold the appropriate license, and comply with restrictions (eg, you get a declaration from the customer regarding age). See
here for the Ministry of Education's Alcohol Guidance for Schools.
Refunds are not available on any Community Shop sales or donations.
General Reminders
- Orders will not be placed against specific students (or their classes). You will receive the purchasers name and contact details but please remember to include any additional information you require for delivery of items in the questions.
- Dated services (with daily deliveries) will not show on community shop. Any items you are wanting to show, please do not set up with a daily cut-off option.
Item Names
- Do write item names using language your audience will understand, use the words they would use to describe the item to make it searchable.
- Do write item names that are unique. For example, if selling 5 tea towels, describe each tea towel and how they look different.
- Do keep the item name as short as possible
- Don’t write long item summaries as only a small amount of text will display onscreen. Use the Description for longer text.
- Don’t include shop operating times or stock numbers in your item name, use the item description for this type of information and think about using 'Ledger code' field for stock codes.
- Don’t use technical jargon.
- Do, above all, aim for clarity in item names.
Item Photos
- Do use images of your items as this will increase the chances of a sale
- Do use images of the actual item.
- Do ensure the quality of the image is clear, not blurry, or too zoomed in.
- Don’t reuse the same image for similar items. For example, if you’re selling 5 tea towels, make sure they are different images of how each tea towel appears differently.
