Choices let you offer families a list of variations for an item — they must select one to add it to their cart.
For guidance on when to use choices versus options, see Choices vs Options.
Adding standard choices
Standard choices do not have individual prices — the item price applies to whichever choice the family selects.
- In the Item editor, select the category the item is in.
- Select the edit icon next to the item you want to update (or create a new item).
- In the Choice section, select + and type your first choice in the Add field.
- Continue adding choices as needed.
- To reorder choices, grab the = handle to the left of each choice and drag up or down.
- Select Save Draft or Save & Publish.

Adding priced choices
Use priced choices when different choices carry different prices — for example, event tickets with adult, child, and concession pricing.
- In the Item editor, select the category the item is in.
- Select the edit icon next to the item you want to update (or create a new item).
- In the Choice section, tick Has priced choices.
- Select + and type your first choice in the Add field, then enter the price for that choice in the price field to the right.
The item price will depend on your setup - see Additional information below for guidance on when to use $0.00 versus a base item price.
- Continue adding choices and prices as needed.
- To reorder choices, grab the = handle to the left of each choice and drag up or down.
- Select Save Draft or Save & Publish.

Priced choices cannot be used on items with Donation receipt enabled.
Priced choices can be set up in two ways depending on your item.
All prices in the choices (item price $0.00)
Use this when every variation has a different price and there is no single base amount. Set the item price to $0.00 and enter the full price for each choice.
Example: Event tickets where each ticket type has its own price.
| Choice | Item (base) price | Choice price | Family pays |
Child (under 16) | $0.00 | $10.00 | $10.00 |
| Senior/Student | $0.00 | $15.00 | $15.00 |
| Adult | $0.00 | $20.00 | $20.00 |
Base price plus a choice surcharge
Use this when there is a standard base price and one or more variations carry an additional cost. Set the item price to the base amount, add a $0.00 choice for the standard option, and enter the surcharge for any higher-priced variations.
Example: Music lessons where families can add instrument hire.
Choice | Item (base) price | Choice price | Family pays |
Lessons only | $700.00 | $0.00 | $700.00 |
Lessons and instrument hire | $700.00 | $100.00 | $800.00 |
Scenarios
Priced choices work well in a range of situations — here are some examples to consider.
Event tickets — Sell adult, child, and concession tickets from a single item. One stock pool manages capacity across all ticket types automatically.
Music lessons and instrument hire — Offer lessons only or lessons with instrument hire from a single item, with the hire surcharge built into the choice price.
Uniforms with size based pricing — Where larger sizes cost more, set different prices for different size ranges without creating separate listings.
Sports registrations — Offer social or competitive registration at different price points from a single item.
Fundraising items — Offer different sizes or quantities at different price points — for example, a small cookie tub for $12.00 or a large tub for $18.00.
