Transferring a School Managed Account to the caregiver

Transferring a School Managed Account to the caregiver

Access: Kindo Payables Administrator

School Managed Accounts can be returned to the caregiver at any time. The full transaction history remains with the account, so the caregiver will be able to see all previous transactions once they take ownership.

After the account is transferred, the caregiver will begin receiving all email notifications and receipts directly from Kindo.

Transfer the account to the caregiver

  1. From the School Admin Home page, select Point of Sale.
  2.  Search for the student by typing their name, then selecting them from the list.
A School Managed Account is identified by the graduation hat icon next to the caregiver's name in the Payer list.

      3. Select Release.

      4. The transfer account ownership window will appear.
This generates a secure link that allows the caregiver to create a password and accept ownership of the account.

      5. Choose how you would like to send the link to the caregiver:

          Open email

Opens your default email application with the message pre-populated. You can edit the message before sending if required.

         Copy details
Allows you to copy the transfer message and link so you can send it manually using your preferred method (for example email or a messaging app).

6. Once the caregiver receives the link, they must follow the steps to create a password and accept ownership of the account.
The account will remain School Managed until the caregiver completes this process.

Notes
The transfer link expires after 48 hours. If the caregiver does not complete the transfer within this time, you will need to repeat the process to generate a new link.

Once the transfer is complete, the icon next to the caregiver’s name will change from the graduation hat to the Kindo “k” icon, indicating that the account is now managed by the caregiver.

Email Client Troubleshooting

If the link opens in the wrong email client (e.g., Outlook instead of your preferred email client):

  1. Open your computer's Settings
  2. Search for "Default apps"
  3. Look for "MAILTO" or "Email" and select your preferred email program

If this doesn't resolve the issue, check your browser settings under "mailto" or default apps.

Alternatively, use the Copy details option to send the link and instructions manually.

Once updated, email links will open in your preferred email program.
