Payment requirement: Voluntary vs Compulsory
Access: Payable Administrators
When creating a payment, you can mark it as voluntary or compulsory. This setting helps you track and report on different types of payments appropriately.
How it works
Compulsory payments are required fees that families must pay (e.g., tuition, mandatory activity fees).
Voluntary payments are optional contributions that families can choose to make (e.g., donations, fundraising, optional trip costs).
Where this appears
Currently, the payment requirement setting is used in:
- Report filtering - Filter reports to show only voluntary or compulsory payments
- Aged receivables report - Compulsory payments are shown by aging period, with voluntary payments displayed separately in their own column
Note: This setting is not currently visible to caregivers when viewing or making payments.
