When families make a donation, they should receive an IRD approved receipt so they can claim back 33% of their payment. It is important to set this receipt up so that it can be sent electronically at the time of payment.
Even if your school is on the Government Donation Scheme, it is still important to set up a Donation receipt, as when families close an account, and their account is in credit, they will get asked if they would like to donate their credit balance back to the school. There may also be other payments like camp contributions, which are considered a donation also.
SETTING UP YOUR DONATION RECEIPT
Our Kindo Helpdesk will set this up for you. Please email helpdesk@kindo.co.nz with the following information:
- Scanned sample signature in a jpeg format of the person who signs the receipt.
- Name & title of the person who signs the receipts.
- School logo in png format.
Once the Helpdesk has created the donation receipt template they will send it to you for your approval before loading it onto the system. Once in the system the receipt will be sent out to every family that purchases an item that has donation receipt required ticked to ON.
SELECTING THE DONATION RECEIPT OPTION
Ensure that the items classed as donations have their GST status changed to exempt and that you have indicated that a donation receipt is required.
1. On the partner site select item editor and ensure you are operating as the correct supplier.
2. Select the category the item is in.
3. Go to the item and select Edit item to bring up the details screen
4. Tick GST exempt to on.
5. Tick Donation receipt to on.
6. Select Save & Publish to make your changes visible to your users.
You will need to do this for every Donation item, regardless of whether they are on Kindo Shop, Community Shop or Kindo Payables.
