Create a Kindo group using eTAP IDs
If your school uses eTAP, you can create a Kindo group by exporting student IDs from eTAP and pasting them into the Groups Editor.
This is useful when creating larger groups based on criteria such as family size, year group, or billing categories.
How this fits with Kindo groups
Kindo groups can be created by pasting student IDs from your Student Management System (SMS).
When using eTAP, these IDs come from your filtered student list.
Once you have your student IDs, you can create your group in Kindo using the Groups Editor page.
Step 1: Select students in eTAP
In eTAP:
1. Go to Simple Billing Bulk Entries
2. Apply the filters needed to select your students
- e.g.
- Family size of 1
- Family size of 2+ (eldest sibling)
3. Confirm the correct students are displayed
This step determines which students will be included in your Kindo group.

Step 2: Copy the student summary link
- Scroll to the bottom of the list
- Locate “Summary of the above student”
- Right-click and copy the link
The link contains all selected student IDs.
Step 3: Prepare the student IDs
The copied link will include a section like:
etap.co.nz/roll/fees/statementsummary.php?pids=0,4746,4641,4921,...
Everything after pids= is the list of student IDs.
Convert the IDs into a list
1. Paste the full link into a blank document (e.g. Notepad, Word, or Excel)
2. Find the section starting with pids=
3. Copy everything after pids=
(for example: 0,4746,4641,4921,...)
Clean up the list
You need each student ID on its own line before pasting into Kindo.
For larger lists, using Excel is the quickest option.
In Excel:
- Paste the list into a cell
- Use Text to Columns (under the Data tab, Delimited → Comma)
- Copy the column of IDs
- Paste the list
- Replace each comma with a new line so each ID is on its own line
- Copy the list of student IDs
You will now have a list of student IDs, with one ID per line, ready to paste into Kindo.
Step 4: Create your group in Kindo
1. Go to Groups Editor
2. Select + New Group
3. Enter your group name (include the year)
4. Select Import students
5. Paste your student IDs (one per line)
6. Click Create
